  • What can I expect when starting counseling?
During the initial consultation, we will be able to discuss what you are currently facing, if my counseling services would be a good fit for you, and what you would like to get out of counseling. At our first session, our main goal will be getting to know each other! From there, we will work together to create a mental wellness plan that best fits your particular needs, values, and goals. Counseling sessions can be scheduled within my office hours Monday through Friday and last 50-55 minutes. I offer online and by-phone counseling services which are explained in further detail here.
  • What are your fees?
My full session fee is $150 per individual session. I accept the following insurance plans: Aetna, Oxford, United Health, and Oscar. I am an Out of Network provider for Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and other insurance companies. Please read more about how OON benefits work here. I can provide help for submitting claims for out-of-network reimbursement, but I cannot guarantee the coverage of provided services and do not bill OON companies directly. I recommend contacting your insurance or using Mentaya to ask about your out-of-network benefits.
  • Do you take insurance?
Yes. I take Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Quest, and Optum/United insurance plans. I am an Out of Network provider for many other insurance companies, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield. I help many of my clients submit claims to get reimbursed by their insurance companies through Mentaya.
  • Why does therapy cost so much?
Counseling is a personal investment in your mental well-being and often has a lasting positive impact on your life. The contribution to your emotional wellness will not only benefit your mental state and self-confidence but also help you in reaching the personal goals you have for your life. While some of my clients see me long-term, many of my clients approach counseling to deal with a short term difficulty. Change can be accomplished through counseling in a brief amount of time if you are open and ready to commit to the work, and invest in yourself and your life. Before seeking counseling from a less expensive source, ask yourself, will I be frustrated if I waste time and money meeting several times with a counselor who charges less, but doesn’t connect with me or understand my issues? Will I be frustrated if I spin my wheels looking for a counselor who is a good fit for me or waste time meeting with three or four before I find a good fit? It is never my goal for someone to be in counseling forever! So while this is an investment, it is short term and will have a long lasting impact on your life.
  • How long will I be in therapy?
Counseling with me does not have a set amount of sessions or strict timeframe in which it must be completed. I believe that the purpose of counseling is to equip you with support, coping skills, and resources to gain a heightened sense of personal ownership, self-confidence, and accomplishment. Going through counseling is a personal process that improves your ability to function and navigate life in a more independent way by connecting with and having support from someone who is both caring and empathetic towards your unique needs. As we continue to work together, we can always check in a evaluate where you are in the counseling process. As much as I love working with my clients, it is never my goal to have anyone in therapy forever! I'm proud to come into your life during a time of need and get you back on your feet and making strides on your own soon.
  • How do I know if you are the right counselor for me?
Counseling can be incredibly beneficial to those who attend, but how do you know if you have found the right counselor? That’s a great question, and one that I would love to explore with you. My passion in counseling is to help women who are facing maternal difficulties, anxiety and life transitions, or trauma. If you feel that you are in one of these categories, I encourage you to continue to read through my website which includes a “You’re in the right place if…” section, an About Me page with my personal approach to counseling, as well as the specific therapy services that I provide. One of the best ways to determine if my counseling services will be a good fit for you is by setting up a free 15-minute consultation. I would be more than happy to chat and see if we are a good fit!
  • What is your schedule?
I offer varied availability Monday-Friday. My earliest appointment time is 9:00 am and my latest is 5:00 pm.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Late Cancellation is defined within 24 hours of your session at the time your session is scheduled to begin. Any late cancellations or no-shows will result in full fee payment for the missed session.
  • Do you meet with clients in person?
No, my sessions are completely online. My clients have found this to be incredibly convenient for juggling their appointments with work, childcare, and home life. I also have found that clients who were new to counseling or nervous about starting felt more comfortable coming to appointments when they can be in their own safe space at home. For more information about how online sessions work, click here.
  • Do you only work with women?
Not necessarily. I work with all people of all gender identities. However, I take a feminist approach regardless, meaning I acknowledge how systemic, institutional, and cultural norms can negatively affect all of us in my practice. The men I work with are often dealing with the negative effects of toxic masculinity and usually feel a lot of shame around their emotions.
  • How do I get started?
The best way to get started is by going to the contact me section located at the top of this page and filling out your information. You are also welcome to contact me via phone or email, which can be found in the same location. This will allow us to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation in which we will discuss why you are interested in counseling, any questions or concerns you may be having about starting, and what you are hoping to get out of our time together. Once we determine if this would be a good fit for you, we can discuss the next steps for scheduling our first appointment. Please contact me to set up a free consultation! I look forward to speaking with you.
